Something that brought me a lot of joy was designing my own t-shirts, and all of the hustle that came with it. Actually it wasn't the shirts that were on my bucket list, nor did I have dreams of being an entrepreneur.

No, I just wanted to do something for the joy of it. I am a goal-oriented person raised by risk-averse African immigrant parents. I couldn't fathom doing things without a "purpose." (Shout out to Yvonne Orji for being an inspiration!) Last year, in the span of a month, I created an LLC, designed a few tees, created an IG and website, and put it all out there!

I'm no t-shirt mogul, but the hustle opened my heart to doing other things for fun and for joy: taking improv and storytelling classes, buying a piano, joining a giving circle, mentoring 1st gen college students, joining a board, providing consulting to local nonprofits, and launching a research project about Diaspora Giving.

Now in the midst of the pandemic, I'm grateful for my stable job, house, and the degrees that got me here, but it's the joy I find in my other pursuits that keep me sane.
