10 Things Black People Say that Promote White Supremacy

  1. Black-ass Bitch and any derivative thereof

black-ass mother f$%&er, black-ass ni??a, etc. (more on Ni??a in a future post). Referring to someones skin color or ethnic background should never be part of an insult. Our different cultures and ethnic backgrounds are beautiful. I’ve been to over 20 countries and I love that they’re all different; different food, different language, different people, different landscape; it’s just beautiful! And while we have a number of differences, there are also a lot of similarities.

If you want to insult someone simply insult them. You only perpetuate white supremacy by using black as an insult in an argument with someone.

Black-ass should only be used amongst black people. For example, I’m gonna take my black-ass to bed. It is used in a positive manner as in you are black and need to go to sleep. It’s not an insult.

  2. She’s pretty for a dark skinned girl

and, though it rarely occurs because we’ve been conditioned to favor proximity to whiteness, “she’s pretty for a light-skinned girl.” Try simply saying “you’re beautiful.” It makes the person feel seen and appreciated & you don’t insult yourself and your ancestors in the process while promoting white supremacy. Because, let’s face it, if you’re black and those words have ever escaped your your luscious thick or thin lips, you need to find a black therapist immediately and figure out why you have this train of thought and extricate yourself from everything & everyone that have made you feel less than the beautiful human being you are.

  3. You talk white

My head hurts with this one.

Major Key - There is no such thing as talking white or talking black. Africa alone has an estimated 1500-2000 languages and I’m not even gonna get into dialects like patois in the Caribbean or Creole in the Americas. Furthermore, there are 24 official languages in Europe but more than 200 languages spoken on the continent. There’s no such thing as talking black or talking white! That’s just bullshit people are taught to elevate European based languages & separate you from your linguistic abilities. My brothers & sisters - learning different languages is in your bloodline. I said there are an estimated 1500 - 2000 languages spoken on the African continent. Eh are yuh stupid, what is talking white? Don’t be an idiot. Go study your book!” said someone’s Cameroonian auntie somewhere. (Shout out to Edgar)

  4. Your hair is nappy

This one really makes me scratch my head (pun intended). What is nappy? Let’s get into the definition and etymology of nappy.

Nappy - downy, having an abundance of nap on the surface," c. 1500, noppi, from nap (n.1) + -y (2). Earlier, of ale, "having a head, foamy" (mid-15c.), hence, in slang, "slightly intoxicated" (1721). Meaning "fuzzy, kinky," especially used in colloquial or derogatory reference to the hair of black people, is by 1840. It also was used of sheep. Related: Nappiness.

Now, why in the name of having sense would we, in 2021, be using terms coined by savage rapists and homicidal colonizers to describe any form and variation of Black hair? If we keep doing things like this to each other we don’t even have to be on a plantation to be enslaved. Bob Marley said '“Emancipate yourself from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.” aren’t really free & while our bodies may have left the plantation. We’re just playing House $%gga$ by policing each others natural appearance and making judgments based on Eurocentric standards. Where I come from, Jamaica, a nappy is a cloth diaper and that’s all that it should be a reference to.

  5. You have good hair

First of all, what is good hair? Define it and see how ridiculous it sounds to glorify one hair texture over the other. Good vs. what? Limp straw-like hair, thin hair, straight hair, curly, wavy, red hair, blonde hair, close proximity to whiteness hair. Good hair is healthy hair.

  6. She/he is black & ugly

Contrary to what colonialism has taught us, white and pretty or black and ugly are not inextricably intertwined. If you find someone ugly it should have nothing to do with the abundance of melanin in their skin. If you categorize-measure someone’s attractiveness or lack thereof basked on their lack of melanin, see #2 above for how to solve this problem.

  7. But you’re black, you can’t do that, say that, wear that, be that…

Yessir Massa, Issa know I’msa black and I shouldn’t be hearing no rock n’ roll music despite the fact that black people pioneered it. The whites said it’s theirs now. Stop it! I know that we are not treated equally but we sure as hell are free, to a certain extent. More on that in a future post on conditioning.

  8. If other blacks didn’t behave so poorly, maybe the whites, Asians, and whomever wouldn’t view us in a negative light.

Racists don’t hate you because someone you don’t know in some far away place with a similar skin tone did something wrong, they hate you because of their own conditioning and lack of humanity. Hating someone because of their skin tone is one of the most moronic things someone could do. But since I don’t believe in eugenics. Let the morons carry on, we don’t have to join them. Hell, one particular group of people managed to torture, rape, and murder over 60 million African people & killed off 90% of the indigenous population in North America alone with violence and diseases from their shit-hole countries;-) And they’re still on top & held up as the moral epitome of goodness and beauty in the world. Every ethnic group, country, peoples, on this planet have bad eggs. Chinese have gangs, Japanese have gangs, and the list goes on. There’s mob violence against Indian muslims who often end up being the victims of murder, rape, and the list goes on. Every ethnic group, country, & continent, have engaged in horrible acts against humanity. We reserve the right to be just as messed up as everyone else without having it tarnish individuals not involved. And let’s be real, nothing could ever compete with the damage Colonialism has done in the world. Nothing!!!

  9. You act white.

    See # 3 above.

  10. I don’t date black people or dark-skinned people because I want light skinned kids

See #2 above. Never mind, scratch that. If you do this, you need a 5150 hold because you have lost your God-damn mind! “Ooooh good lord, somebody better come get this child before I beat some sense into this baby!” Said somebody’s grandma in Georgia somewhere! Disclaimer: We don’t condone violence against anyone, especially not the severely mentally ill. Any reference to beating was strictly for comic relief because if we don’t laugh at the absurdity of a black person telling another black person that they don’t want a black baby, then we’d be too heart-broken to breathe.

10. Beautiful kids.

Issa Rae said “I’m rooting for everybody black” at the 2017 Emmys. I second that. I’m rooting for everybody black loving each other.
